Kumiko Kotera is an internationally recognized expert in astroparticle physics and high-energy astrophysics. She co-founded the GRAND project in 2013 and has overseen the development and growth of the project, which counts today about 90 international researchers and engineers. Since 2016, she has been officially acting as co-spokesperson of the experiment and participates in the development of the data analysis pipeline, and the science case definition. She was awarded the APS Young Star Award in 2012 and the CNRS bronze medal in 2016 for her multi-messenger emission modeling from a wide variety of astrophysical sources. Kumiko Kotera is currently deputy Director of the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris. She is highly involved in outreach activities at school and higher education levels, where she encourages diversity. She is also extensively engaged in environmental awareness related to research.
