Dr. Wang received his bachelor's degree from Zhengzhou University in 1982, his master's from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1989, and his Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1992. He has conducted research at the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany (as a Humboldt Fellow), ISTEC and STA in Japan, and Simon Fraser University in Canada. He joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) under the Hundred Talents Program in 1998, received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2000, and held various research and leadership roles at CAS institutes before joining Peking University in 2014.

Dr. Wang’s research focus on the physical properties of superconductors and complex quantum materials. He has made significant original contributions to the study of iron-based superconductors, advancing China’s international standing in the field. He is also a recognized expert in solid-state spectroscopy techniques and ultrafast optical measurements, leading a group internationally known at the forefront of both equilibrium and non-equilibrium studies of correlated materials.

Dr. Wang has authored over 340 publications, including in Nature, Science Advances, PRL, and PNAS, and co-edited the first English monograph on iron-based superconductors. Dr. Wang is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and recipient of numerous national and international honors, including the 2013 State Natural Science First-Class Award of China.
