Madhu Mutyam received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2003. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he spent a period as a visiting scholar in Computer Science at The Pennsylvania State University in the United States. In 2007, he joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Madras as a faculty member and was promoted to Professor in 2015. He currently serves as the Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Madras. His research is dedicated to advancing the field of computer architecture, with a particular focus on heterogeneous computing systems, multicore and manycore architectures, memory subsystem design, interconnection networks, secure processor microarchitecture, and shared resource management. Through a combination of architectural modeling, system-level design, and experimental evaluation, his work addresses fundamental challenges related to performance, scalability, and efficiency in modern computing systems. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the ACM, and his contributions have been recognized with honors including the Young Faculty Recognition Award from IIT Madras and the UKIERI Research Award from the British Council.
