Tulika MITRA
Selection Committee - Computer Science
Dean of the School of Computing, Vice Provost (Special Projects), and Provost’s Chair Professor of Computer Science, National University of Singapore.
Research Area: Systems & Networking
Tulika Mitra received her B.E. degree in Computer Science from Jadavpur University in 1995 and earned her M.E. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science in 1997. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Computer Science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2000. After graduating, she joined the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing in 2001, where she has held faculty positions ever since. She is currently Dean of the School of Computing, Vice Provost (Special Projects), and Provost’s Chair Professor of Computer Science at NUS. Professor Mitra’s research is dedicated to advancing the hardware-software co-design of computing systems, with a particular focus on real-time embedded systems, energy-efficient AI accelerators, heterogeneous multi-core architectures, and design automation for smart and safety-critical systems. Her work spans multiple layers of the computing stack, from compiler optimizations and software timing analysis to operating systems and computer architecture, aiming to improve performance, predictability, and energy efficiency in modern computing platforms. Over the course of her career, Professor Mitra has published extensively in top international journals and conferences, supervised numerous Ph.D. students, and led large research programmes funded by the Singapore Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation (NRF), including initiatives on low-power reconfigurable edge accelerators and Green AI. Her work has been recognized with multiple best paper awards and a prestigious ESWEEK Test-of-Time Award in 2022. She has also served as Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems, and held leadership roles in major international conferences such as Embedded Systems Week (ESWEEK) and the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD).
