Chia-Hsien Shen, Ph.D.
2026 AYS Fellow - Physical Science
Assistant Professor, National Taiwan University
Research areas: High energy theory, gravitational waves, black holes, gravity, effective field theory, scattering amplitudes.
Award Citation: The AYSF Committee recognizes Dr. Chia-Hsien Shen's achievement of exceptional global recognition in particle physics theory. AYSF would like to support him, ideally positioned to pioneer breakthroughs in gravity and black hole physics by combining scattering amplitudes with effective field theory.
Bio: Chia-Hsien Shen is an Assistant Professor at National Taiwan University, which he joined in 2023. He was born and raised in Taiwan and received his Ph.D. from Caltech in 2017 under the supervision of Clifford Cheung. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). His research focuses on using scattering amplitudes to uncover new structures and hidden simplicity in effective field theory. Applications of his work include precision calculations of gravitational-wave signals, physics beyond the Standard Model, and formal aspects of quantum field theory.
