Award Citation: The AYSF Committee recognizes Dr. Baiqing Lyu’s rich experimental findings in studies of topological and correlated matter. AYSF would like to support his future research on topological superconductivity and its potential applications in quantum computing.
Bio: Baiqing Lv (Lyu) is an Associate Professor at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Physics, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2018 and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In November 2022, he joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a tenure-track Associate Professor. His research focuses on the discovery and manipulation of novel topological and correlated quantum phases. His notable achievements include the experimental discovery of the long-sought Weyl fermions, three-component fermions, and fractional vortices. The discovery of Weyl fermions, which has been cited more than 3,000 times, was recognized as one of China’s “Top 10 Scientific Discoveries of 2015,” one of Physics World’s “Top 10 Breakthroughs of 2015,” and a “Highlight of the Year” by the American Physical Society. His observation of threefold fermions was also selected as one of China’s “Top 10 Scientific Discoveries of 2017.” As first author, he published a comprehensive review of topological semimetals in Reviews of Modern Physics. He received the Eighth Sir Martin Wood China Prize in 2026 and was named a Highly Cited Chinese Researcher in both 2025 and 2026.
